Watch How Coaching & Community Shape Our Work At LaMarca Law Group, P.C.

|

At LaMarca Law Group, P.C., we talk a lot about preparation, strategy, and results. Those matter. But this Community Involvement video shows something just as important: who we are when we leave the office, and how that shapes the way we show up for clients.

In the video, one of our attorneys steps off the litigation track and onto the wrestling mat. He talks about coaching teenagers, helping them handle pressure, and guiding them through tough moments. That story says a lot about the values driving our work every day.

Community keeps us grounded—and that makes us better attorneys

Early in the video, he shares a simple idea: “I think it’s important that we’re part of our community… really, actually, just to have a wholesome life. I think that makes you a better worker.”

We share that belief. When we stay grounded in real life—families, schools, sports, local organizations—we bring more energy and perspective to the office. That balance makes us better when someone comes to us after an injury, a work-related problem, or a business dispute. We encourage our attorneys to build a life outside the firm because it keeps everyone “energized when we get here to do a good job.” The same focus we invest in our community is what we bring to every client we represent.

What coaching teenagers reveals about how we work with clients

The most engaging part of the video is when he talks about coaching wrestling. He describes what draws him to it: “I coached wrestling, and I think that the educational aspect of coaching is really important, and that’s why I’ve been called to it.” He continues: “I love working with teenagers and helping them process the world through sports, and processing emotion and processing disappointment.”

Those lines do more than describe an after-hours hobby. They reveal how we think about our work with clients. When someone comes to us after a serious accident, a denied claim, or a business conflict, they often face the same feelings you see on a wrestling mat after a hard loss—shock, frustration, fear, and uncertainty about what comes next. Listening, teaching, staying calm, helping people navigate tough emotions—those aren’t just coaching instincts. They’re the same qualities that make an attorney someone a client can actually lean on.

He makes that connection directly: “Those types of things that I love they also apply to the practice of law in terms of interacting with clients, working with clients one on one, helping them to understand the law.” Our role goes beyond filing documents or appearing in court. We sit down with people, walk them through their options, and answer questions in plain language. He closes with a line that captures how we approach our work: “I’ve always enjoyed working with a client to solve their problem.” That problem-solving focus runs through everything we do in personal injury, workers’ compensation, and business litigation.

Giving back to Des Moines—and what it teaches us

At one point, he says, “It’s just good for the community, for people to pour back into it.” Coaching, mentoring, and showing up for local organizations means giving time and attention back to the place we call home. It also gives us a clearer picture of how legal problems affect real lives—workers trying to support families, business owners trying to keep their doors open, young people trying to find their footing.

That awareness shapes how we approach each case. Our attorneys, accountants, and investigators work together to look at the full picture, pursuing fair outcomes for clients and, where possible, pushing for safer practices and better decision-making in workplaces and businesses across Iowa.

Watch the video and see our values in action

Many people who reach out to LaMarca Law Group, P.C. feel outmatched—up against an insurance company or a larger business with far more resources. This Community Involvement video offers a window into how we think about that responsibility. The patience and clarity our attorney practices on the wrestling mat are the same qualities he brings to a client facing a life-changing injury or a serious dispute.
