Multiple-Vehicle Accident Leads to Oil Spill in Des Moines

|

On Tuesday, November 19 a semi was involved in a six-vehicle pileup that caused the semi to spill 70 gallons of oil onto Interstate Highway 80/35 in Des Moines. The accident caused major delays in the area.

According to Iowa State Patrol’s Scott Bright, the early morning accident only resulted in injury to one person. The victim was immediately taken to a hospital to receive medical attention.

Bright said onlooking drivers were using the inside shoulder to pass through the area while the three affected westbound lanes, from University Avenue to Merle Hay Road, were being cleaned.
